We are a family of nine … Bunch A Franks (BAF), Mike and Cathy, plus our 5 boys and 2 girls, ranging from 18 months to 17 years, and blessed by a busy lifestyle full of family activities such as football, wrestling and reining horse shows.

BAF Performance Horses was born out of the desire to start a family business. We all enjoy horses and the sport of reining, so, performance bred Quarter horses became the logical choice. We researched and talked to people with years of experience in the performance horse industry. They told us that top bloodlines were a priority, and for our family, a good mind was an even bigger priority. After a lot of looking we found Nu Steps To Cash, an own son of the youngest and fastest rising million dollar sire in the reining horse industry, Wimpys Little Step , who is noted for passing on his color, conformation, athletic ability, a willingness to learn, and most of all a good mind. Wimpys Little Step has appeared on the cover of reining and performance horse magazines, including Horse and Rider, showing he is admired by many in the horse industry.  His son, Cash has not disappointed us for he is much like his sire. Cash is showing himself to be athletic, good minded and a color producer. This is his first show season and he has earned his AQHA ROM in Open reining as well as Champion of the 2011 RHANW level 1 Open Derby and Co-Champion of the level 4 open Derby!

With the exception of our youngest two, everyone has competed in a reining horse competition. Reining is a family sport. It offers classes for every age from the Lil Boots class to the Over the hill class. Reining is like dressage in high gear. From the fast circles and dizzying spins, to the thing the sport is most noted for… it’s sliding stop! There is something for everyone at a reining horse show.

Our BAF family is members of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) and it’s local affiliate The Reining Horse Association of the Northwest (RHANW). The RHANW offers many club classes as well as a full slate of NRHA classes. They offer high point awards, year end buckles and added money in most of those classes. Mike and our daughters, Rebekah and Jessica, can be seen as regulars at our local affiliate shows held in Moses Lake, WA. Last year Jessica won her first high point buckle in the Lil Boots class on her horse, Oakie.  Rebekah not only won high point in her 13 and under class but also, qualified to go to Oklahoma for the national championships at the NRHA futurity where she placed 7th out of 40 competitors on her horse, Chicklet. Rebekah is very grateful for the support of the great town of Deer Park, our club, family and friends who helped her accomplish her goals!
